The Fish Pot – Wine List
Priced in Barbados Dollars (BDS$2 = USD$1)
Australian Gems
Having grown up in Western Australia and having spent many hours sitting on my surf board along the Margaret River coastline, I do have very fond memories of the region and the many wines available from Western Australia.
These are just a few very drinkable bottles.
Enjoy. If you haven't already visited this part of the world, put it on your 'must do in my life' list.

WHITE WINES
- $75 900. Leeuwin Estate 'Art Series' Riesling 2005, Margaret River
Leeuwin's Riesling is always top-notch and the 2005 Riesling Art Series exhibits notes of limes, white currants, crushed rocks and lemon zest.
Robert Parker 87 points.
- $100 902. Leeuwin Estate 'Prelude' Chardonnay 2005, Margaret River
Fine, intense nectarine and grapefruit with seamless oak: as fresh as a dasiy, the oak perfectly balanced and integrated.
- $245 909. Leeuwin Estate 'Art Series' Chardonnay 2003, Margaret River
The classic 2003 Chardonnay Art Series was aged in 100% new French oak for 18 months, but you would never know that. It boasts a layered, white peach and honeyed citrus bouquet intermixed with subtle background wood smoke.
Medium to full-bodied with excellent acidity, minerality and structure...
Robert Parker 93 points.
RED WINES
- $95 905. Leeuwin Estate 'Prelude' Cabernet/Merlot 2002, Margaret River
Deep red. Strong cabernet aromas of cassis, bitter cherry, tobacco, pepper and roofy sassafras with top notes of iron and graphite. This could easily pass for a Grave. Ripe cherry and pomegranate flavors are complimented by hints of bitter chocolate and dried herbs and nicely framed by firm tannins.
Long, firm and focused, with juicy acids giving lift to the finish.
- $175 906. Leeuwin Estate 'Art Series' Cabernet Sauvignon 2001, Margaret River
The oustanding 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Art Series boasts spicy, subtle French oak, cedar, spice box, black currant aromas and flavours gently touched by licorice and herbs. This attractive, medium-bodied Cabernet exhibits layers of richness.
A graceful, restrained personality, decent acidity, noticeable but sweet tannin and a long finish.
Enjoy this beauty over the next decade.
Robert Parker 91+ points.
- $130 907. Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2000, Margaret River
A very dense and pure nose with a wealth of ripe, very primary fruit.
A svelte palate with great depth and grip. Drinking perfectly now.
